Breath, Body & Brain:
An introduction to yoga & the nervous system

Saturday December 6th, 10am - 1pm

A morning of discussion and practice ...

So many of us come to yoga with a vague idea that it will help us relax. And for many of us, our yoga classes become a sanctuary to do just that. Yet the relationship between yoga and our nervous systems is deeper & more nuanced than a simple story of relaxation.

Join Penny Jones, a yoga teacher and science communicator, to explore how yoga interacts with our stress responses, and how we can use yoga – both on and off the mat – to navigate, hold and meet our stress with wisdom and compassion in an often-frazzled world.

Penny will cover:

~ The basic ‘anatomy’ of human stress responses ~

~ How and why specific practices can stimulate the parasympathetic (rest and digest) response ~

~ The relationship between yoga & nervous system flexibility ~

~ Beyond the quick-fix: How yogic skills, capacities and lifestyles can support greater freedom in how we live and work with our stress responses in a complex and challenging world ~

We'll do plenty of practice, and finish with tea and a chat!
